This is The Active Surveillor, Some of the News on AS that Fits
Hi, all.
About 75 of you have signed up for my newsletter "The Active Surveillor."
It's news and opinion about AS. I hope more of you will join me.
My first new article was about how many men in a study at UCSF were able to continue on AS even as their cancer advanced to mainly Gleason 3+4 from Gleason 3+3. Dr. Peter Carroll, one of the researchers, answered a question and promised to look into more.
I even heard from a patient in the study who hopes to live on AS despite the fact that his cancer progressed. He is aiming for 25 years at least--he's halfway there.
I had some tech issues. Maybe you did, too. If you couldn't get into The Active Surveillor newsletter, please try this:
Meanwhile, some comments about the first edition of The Active Surveillor.
Mark Lichty, co-founder of Active Surveillance Patients International, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, who has been on AS since 2005:
"Howard Wolinsky’s newsletter, The Active Surveillor, captures the leading edge of the evolution of AS. Howard’s 50 years of medical journalism expertise culminates in this information-packed newsletter."
David King Keller, Ph.D., advisor to Active Surveillance Patients International, of Jacksonville, Florida, who has been on AS since 2013:
"The Active Surveillor addresses a long-felt need in the active surveillance community. Nobody was talking directly to us. Now someone Is. Thank you, Howard Wolinsky!"
Thank you, David and Mark.
So please join up.
More to come soon.
