We’re closing in on Father’s Day. It’s only a month away.
And there’s no time like the present to be lining up special gifts for those special Dads who have everything, including prostate cancer.
I never could stay within the lines of coloring books. So I’m not a fan of the medium. But maybe you would find it relaxing to color bright images with affirmations to “fight” your prostate cancer and boost your immune system?
Artist Arianna Lambert has just the thing: Fuck Prostate Cancer Coloring Book: A Prostate Cancer Coloring Book For Adults Paperback – January 16, 2020.
The book is “designed with positive affirmations and relaxing antistress patterns; this gift supports healing and positive changes. This coloring book provides hours of relaxation and is a tasteful and appreciated gift.”
It’s only $8.95 for hours of relaxation and healing. https://www.amazon.com/Fuck-Prostate-Cancer-Coloring-Book/dp/1661687024/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1KKJACTE9MEC7&keywords=Fuck+prostate+cancer+coloring+book&qid=1652871267&sprefix=fuck+prostate+cancer+coloring+book%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-1
Top it off with some fancy crayons: https://www.amazon.com/Caliart-Permanent-Highlighters-Sketching-Illustration/dp/B073TW8QHV/ref=sr_1_20?crid=20HEEFKFSCV7Q&keywords=fancy+crayons&qid=1652874473&sprefix=fancy+%2Caps%2C6026&sr=8-20
The prostate cancer crowd on average is in the age bracket that still remembers an antiquated medium called print “books.”
My favorites on low-risk prostate cancer is: Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers: Revised and Updated Edition: An Essential Guide to Managing Prostate Cancer for Patients and Their Families.
This is the version that came out in 2021. It’s what you might call a “fun read” and maybe a “beach book” by the famed Mark Scholz M.D. and his late patient Ralph H. Blum.
I bought the first edition in 2010 and found it a sobering expose on the prostate-industrial complex. Back then, I didn’t know a soul who was on active surveillance so Blum and Scholz gave me much-needed support and companionship. I’m glad so many of you are around now.
Only 6% of us in 2010 opted for AS, and we needed balls and prostates of steel to pull it off as everyone else was rushing into the OR or the radiation suite. Back then, there were no support groups or advocacy groups—or newsletters like TheActiveSurveillor.com—aimed at patients on AS. I am proud to say I helped invent the concept.
Now, patients on AS are roaring with newfound power and energy. 60% of patients with low-risk prostate cancer now opt for AS, according to a report presented on Sunday at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association.
So for Father’s Day, how about a donation to Active Surveillance Patients International, which runs educational webinars on AS,
or to AnCan, which runs a weekly virtual support group for patients on AS and their supporters? Or to any of the other groups such as the Prostate Cancer Support Canada, Prostate Foundation of Orange County, ad Walnut Foundation.
AnCan also has some very nice swag: https://ancan.org/shop/
Also, you can help keep the lights on here at TheActiveSurveillor—pay as much or as little as you wish. My transcriptionist, the charming, multi-talented Nancy G., has to eat, too.
How about a prostate plush toy? Order from Amazon or Walmart.
(Another off-the-wall gift idea is my new book (unrelated to prostate cancer). It’s called “Contain and Eliminate: The American Medical Association’s Conspiracy to Destroy Chiropractic.” It’s a story of break-ins and dirty tricks at the AMA, CIA, DOJ, IRS, and seemingly virtually every organization with a three-letter acronym pulled off by Scientology moles and operatives; a spy called “Sore Throat;” a one-year manhunt that resulted in the first turncoat to flip on Scientology; L. Ron Hubbard’s vendetta against the AMA; the largest FBI raid in history; witness protection, and a 14-year antitrust suit by several chiropractors against the AMA that went all the way to the U.S Supreme Court.

Let me know in the comment box below what you want for Father’s Day. I’m calling for world peace and an end to the COVID-19 pandemic. It doesn’t hurt to aim high.
Meanwhile, what’s wrong with this image taken around the corner from my house in Flossmoor, Illinois?
Can you help me out and sign up for a free AnCan webinar on how lifestyle can affect prostate cancer?
AnCan is presenting a program on lifestyle choices and all grades of prostate cancer at 8-9:30 p.m. Eastern on May 31. Register at: https://bit.ly/3KkxcfC
The webinar, entitled “Optimizing Sleep, Exercise, and Nutrition in Prostate Cancer," features Dr. Stacy Loeb, professor of Urology and Population Health at the New York University School of Medicine and the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Dr. Justin Gregg, assistant professor of Urology and Health Disparities Research at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, of UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Did you miss the best program on AS to date: “Your Voice in the future of Active Surveillance,” on April 22.? Here’s the link: https://aspatients.org/meeting-videos/
A Who’s Who of experts joined the conversation along with patients and advocates, who were not too shabby either.
Active Surveillance Patients International and the AnCan Virtual Support Group for AS are teaming up for a program on BPH, an enlarged prostate, a not uncommon problem in patients on AS.
It’s a drop-in First Wednesday meeting. No registration necessary. Attend the free program, featuring BPH guru, Mount Sinai’s Dr. Steven Kaplan: ancan.org/barniskis
I had to look online to see if the prostate plush toy was real...it is!.....WOW!!! I have seen it all now. Imagine the look on a radiologist's face if that smiley face showed up on your MRI!
