In 2009 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer Gleason 6 and one biopsy core infected. Dr. Cooperberg suggested I consider active surveillance which was an emerging concept. I participated in the Canary Prostate Active Surveillance Study (PASS) for five years and more biopsies than I can remember and continue with surveillance today. I certainly appreciate Dr. Cooperberg's recommendation particularly since I had been recommended for prostatectomy, a far more common action at the time, prior to consulting with Dr. Cooperberg. Thanks, Michael.
You are an AS success.
I appreciate you sharing your story. Thanks to us, fewer biopsies are done on patients today.
I've been on AS since 2010. There wren't too many of us on AS back then. Now, as my son says, we have our own "Army." Howard
