To your question, Howard, first and foremost read your "frickin' blog!" One with PCa is often blind to how treating team thinks, what to ask and how, and is it "acceptable" to "forcefully" grill these

"well-intentioned" individuals? The answer obvious reading "The Active Surveillor." Remember tenets of Dreyfuss' movie, "Whose Life is it Anyway?" One of the beauties of the larger V.A. Medical Centers is a medical library and librarian on site; though funding continues to be an issue even for the large Centers. Confront the team. Still a problem, deuce and a half, aging vets and media will at the very least get one heard by pressure applied the treating team from above. Ok, in truth I sense embarrassment the answer. The industry cannot profess, "At first do not harm........." yet "sell" to veterans' circle a severely restricted existence for the vet in his waning years once veteran aware, "Just Say No!". Laugh at the simplicity but it is my belief the blog indespensable.

I read a study of all the VAs. Their uptake of AS for appropriate candidates went from zero to l00 percent. And overall 70 percent. That beats the national average of 60 percent. Does that match what you know, Steve. Glad you are able to post. How did you fix it?

Impression, as a medical writer and above all "activist" your entire life, Howard, you're interested in whether ANYBODY is listening! Put this blog right up there with reception of Luther's proclamations on church door, even the Bible! The V.A. has from 'bout time of your biopsy of a "sole" plug, V.A. has been at the forefront of Active Surveillance. 170% increase in invasive therapy for those with Intermediate Risk and less than 10 years of life expectancy or 270% increase in those High Risk with less than 5 years of life expectancy within V.A begs the question not only do, "....doctors need to communicate the data", i.e. N.C.C.N., better, but where oh where has ANCAN and similar patient-support venues been, OR, like with the medical industry as a whole in America, was anyone listening?

This is absolutely true and I am coming from anecdotal evidence, not medical studies. One only needs to monitor the FB group "Prostate Cancer Support" to see this. Regrettably, the dogmatic "I just want it out!" (or treated somehow) is a common observance. Then there are the "What can I do about...ED, incontinence, pain, etc." after the deed was done.
