Sweatshirt and secret handshake as member, classic; much gained by all! Will seriously consider. At some point each of us who attend efforts like this last weekend return to our support groups, leadership of which-medical center staff or sponsored non-profit alike-fail to emphasize one does in most instances have the time to consider AS. To see the growth in numbers of attendees at these webinars portends tomorrow and opportunity to share new understanding with others in our groups and overtly challenge leadership's ignorance. How inroad is accomplished given institutional bias favoring sunkin' cost recapture over new generation imaging beyond me but certainly fodder for such a group.
NO REGISTRATION necessary for the AS support group at 10 a.m. Eastern on Monday, Feb. 27, during the ZERO Summit. Join the session via ZOOM at https://bit.ly/3HQl4Ux So jot down that URL. Please join us
It was a good session. Attendees were thirsty for information and to end isolation in this health issue that we all face. They came as far away as India and Russia to join in.
We had difficulty ending the meeting. It wasn amazing session.
You're on target as usual about the Prostate Cancer Industrial Complex. I have several articles coming that relate including two about insurance discrimination and PCa,. Still, some insurers are doing the right thing, such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan, which supports the visionary MUSIC program. I have wrtitten about MUsiC. Therre's more, too,
I also have an analysis--admiitedly dated--showing urologists can make more money with AS that with radical surgery in the long run. Is it only about money? I don't think so.
Sense with your link, Howard, no need to register with Zero; if so, worth highlighting.
I commend all involved in yesterday's webinar, "transitioning." Tone of questioning in Chat indicated all levels from neophyte to advanced. Strongly encourage repeat twice a year "IF" emphasis not simply re-telling ones story; facts, ma'am, simply the facts! Many who commented have the financial resources for a more complete picture; however, most do not. High time to broach question of cost and how to get it covered. Through all the exceptional efforts of many at ANCAN, ASPI and the Active Surveillor, "flickin' the bird" at an industry with its own best interest first at heart, lost in the diatribe is presence of those within the insurance industry sensitive to injustice willing to talk openly.
At yesterday's ASPI webinar, Mark Lichty mentioned an idea about an ASPI offshoot he was suggesting regular meetings of with small groups of AS patients.
I've been sitting on a similar idea as an extension of this newsletter.
It could be quarterly--or more frequent--meetings for subscribers to TheActiveSurveillor.com
This community is growing and I expect there will be 1,000 individual subscribers in a few months. As many as 2,000 people readi individual issues.
I don't require paid subscriptions I don't believe in withholding information that in many cases may be news to your doctors, too. .
(Paid subscriptions do help me meet cover the cost of transcriptions, fees to the software publisher, etc.)
Do to you want to be a member of "The Club'’?
Think of this like public TV or radio—unless you dislike NPR and Public TV.
I am thinking about a “Club” that would include some patients who happen to have prostate cancer shooting the breeze, not necessarily only about prostate cancer.

Thanks, Steve.
You were the first paid subscriber and probably first subscriber one year ago.
Very grateful.
Subscribers rapidly growing--closing in on 800--100+ in the last week.
It's free--unless readers want to help defray my software, transcription and other costs.
I'm grateful for the support.

Many docs are on our side.

Steve et al,

If you like this idea and would like to participate, send me an email at howard.wolinsky@gmail.com
Suggest a name for the group. I have some names but I want to hear yours.
I can see an official sweatshirt and a secret handshake.
Howard
Cheers!
