J.P. Thanks for the note. Somehow I missed it.

I plan another story on I grew up in a desolate, polluted part of Chicago.

Stay tuned.

I am planning to write about microplastics. But gotta do some research.

Interesting!! Personal testimony of Radiologist at public event noted summer fires worse than air quality he'd personally experienced in Beijing. When you have a moment, incorporate at the findings of plastics bottom of the Mariana Trench in 2019, 6.8 miles deep and in Pacific NW salmon.

Thanks, J.P.

I will be running more environmental stories. BTW, I lived in Florida for five years in the '70s. Sure I saw results of tornados and were on the opposite coasts (I worked for St. Pete Times and Florida Today) from hurricanes. But never saw the wildfires. ZDid you? Howard

Thanks, Harley. FYI, I have a couple more environmental stories coming soon. Likely one on microplastics. Howard

Quite interesting. Two extra points:

1. Firefighters have been exposed to PFAS extensively and foams (for suffocating fires) and fireproof clothing containing them are being systematically removed from service. These chemicals have contributed to the high rate of PCa amongst those men.

2. The excitement over µplastics is just getting started. When found in testicles there were fertility questions, but they are also found in prostates, as you pointed out.

We are slowly reaping the hazards of an industrialized society that makes the Industrial Revolution pale in comparison.

Hello Howard,

This essay was of particular significance to me because I am a seventy-eight year old guy juggling the interconnected SEs of advanced PCa, ILD (interstitial lung disease), CAD, and osteoporosis with nine spinal compression fractures from bone mineral loss. Yep, a mess of comorbidities balancing on a banana peel. I have lived in rural and urban New England locations and coastal FL, so my air and water quality has been questionable. The locations have always been subject to climate related events. Interestingly, we were aware of poor air quality arriving in the mountains of rural NH that was being blown east from the mid-west coal burning power plants, and we always filtered our drinking water because it was spring water that we drank in NH and the salt water tainted ground water we used in our coastal Florida community. We have a few common associates at AnCan and other PCa patient advocacy gathering points. Your’s was a thought provoking essay. Thanks.
